Romshri Ashesh’s journey as a therapist spanning more than seven years, first began on a beautiful winter of misty mountains of Manali in 2010 where she facilitated “White Meditation in Manali” involving group sessions of past life regression of a dozen of participants. The participants went deep into their childhood memories and assisted them to release the heavy baggage of emotions from the depth of their minds. Between 2010 till now she have facilitated over 1000 workshops on different spiritual subjects such as Past Life Regression, Tarot and Intuitive therapies. The following questions and answers are actually the result of   discussions on the larger aspects of Spiritual awakening, regression techniques, their effect as modalities and healing potential for everyone. This interview took place in New Delhi by German author and journalist Burkhard Ceram recently.

1. It is said this is the new age of spiritual Awakening, how do you see it as a departure of so called “religion”?

Possibly, even more than that. For me, it is a big effort and big step in the process of evolution. And as all efforts require a commensurate devotion, curiosity and persistence, this awakening also does. It is just not the departure of so called organized religion but so called organized “spirituality” even.  This awakening is here and it requires a tremendous amount of self- work on individual level. Groups are helpful to stay hopeful and inspired but Spiritual awakening is a very personal matter.

2. You can taste spirituality but you cannot take a vacation from reality. Is it my own depressing interpretation or you have a different take on this?

It is very subjective and depends on your idea of  “spirituality”. If spirituality is a vacation for you, then certainly you have to go back somewhere. Is that “somewhere” reality for you? These are the questions you may ask after walking on the path of actual spirituality for a while.

For me, spirituality is itself “going back to source”. You consider your life which is actually made with the material of your previous beliefs, decisions and opinions as “Reality”. For me life in this form is a baggage of an existential fallacy or a sleep walk. Spirituality is too enormous to be just tasted and too vast that it consumes your false self. The path of spiritual awakening appears unreal or unrealistic to only those who have not opened themselves fully as yet.

In truth, spirituality is the only way to know self completely. This does not mean escaping from the external realities but also using the outer situations to explore inner layers of self. It is a self-inquiry and a very logical attempt based on inner scientific researches to know the “base material” that creates your “reality”.

3. Do you think there’s such a thing as a self-work that works for your clients and students even after the session in life when they are truly alone? Or you are making them dependent on you by giving them a glimpse of emotional empowerment?

A student or client is not merely a subject for me. A person, who shows up the courage to open his vulnerable aspects to me, actually does so because of the arrival of his own divine timing to know his unknown. I am a grounded facilitator in this journey and over the years, I have found the fine-balance that keeps me away from appreciation, criticism and clinginess. Home-assignments are the base of all therapies, same as a doctor prescribes you medicine and certain precautions after your check-up or operation. You do not become dependent on doctor. The association is transitory.  You heal yourself and move on. Therapies are not to pursue on inter-dependent long term associations. It is to work on particular issue of the client followed by planned therapy sessions. Once the sessions are over, the client is given defined home-work to be done independently on daily basis on himself. This homework may make him more curious, empowered and intrigued about life but never dependent on the therapist or teacher. We must not forget that life teaches us to grow.  Everyone is on different levels and a time comes when we become mature enough to remain dependent on anyone or anything external. The whole idea is to know self, acknowledge self and eventually accept self. Once you learn this you enjoy your own company like never before.

4. Can you name one healing modality that you have taken yourself recently and tell a little bit about what it was like? Or you would like to establish that healers don’t need healing?

I take many healings as and when I get an opportunity. Recently, I took a higher- self session from a colleague. It is such an amazing experience to measure my own growth. I remember, when I started learning subconscious healings; during my sessions I used to cry a lot. So much that no one would ready to be paired up with me to practice. I had a lot to release. I still have; though the intensity, texture and amount has been reduced or changed to a great extent. It is true that I still cry during my sessions but in joy and bliss to see many positive inner changes. It is such a beautiful involvement with self.  This is to be remembered and understood; there are no healers. There cannot be any. Therapists can exist but not healers for healing is the natural stage of a natural human being. No one can instantly lead you there. We can facilitate healing by tapping into its ever-present stream in universe. We can not claim cure. We can claim the on-going transformation and evolution as it is the only truth. We are human beings; ever growing, ever changing and ever transforming. We must enjoy co-existence on this journey of self-inquiry.

5. As in regression to past lives, the client measures his self-worth comparatively, and the sessions allow us to watch many different decisions and characters of self. Is it fair to say it’s what leads many of them astray?

Past Life regression is a therapy that facilitates to access the lives lived with a clear understanding to first identify the cause or causes of certain pain or problems and then heal the unhealed part to reduce its effect on the current life. The session takes the client to watch many aspects of his or her self in previous life but it does not leave them astray but make them more empowered. I want to give my own example I was born in Kinnaur. I grew up in different parts of Himachal and Punjab. I travelled to Australia, New Zealand and other countries for my education. For past five years, I have been travelling to four different states every month. Sometimes I am a therapist, sometimes a teacher, after sessions, I am a friend or a daughter. You think, all this have led me astray? These experiences have taught and enriched me on many levels. I may have encountered toxic situations but my inner awareness empowered me to deal with them. This is the case with regressions as well. You re-visit those lives and review how many useful strengths, skills and virtues you have acquired and what is there which is not serving or limiting your potential. You get a clear picture and decide what to keep and what to release in order to evolve smoothly and joyfully.

6. Do you feel any need to defend or justify the (let’s call it) ‘darkness’ in your own work, or in the healing or therapies you selected? You are fighting the dark or unhealed or negative. Is ‘dark’ vs ‘not dark’ even a useful distinction? Is this one strange question, or what?

I probably don’t identify with these terms very much at all—personally. But we must stay aware that we are living in the world of polarities; right and wrong, good and bad, white and black. This is how we human beings identify things that help us to grow and things that limit our potential. The law of duality states that everything will have an opposite on this level. But that does not mean that we cannot rise above the polarities and view life beyond the dual patterns. These earth-bound beliefs of unhealed and healed are actually keeping the human potential stuck to the game of victim-messiah. We are so much more.

But then remember, this is a stage of evolution and no one can jump it over. You have to go through the physical to reach metaphysical. You have to experience the forms to understand formless. Duality has its own role to teach us and push us to the other side.

The artists of healings must need to realize that they are not warriors of light. They are the lovers of existence and in this existence everyone has only one essence- oneness.
